After two weeks spent staring at my phone, it finally rang... and the news was good!!

I've been accepted into Tokyo Uni!

Though I don't really understand the process now. I've been nominated, and now I have to go through another process to enroll for exchange to Todai. They can still knock me back, and I won't know for certain if I'm in until about July. A mere two months before classes start... But I'm kinda hoping that if I'm nominated, then I'm basically in. It took Tokyo two long weeks to decide if I could be nominated, so how much thinking would they need to do? >_<

But I kinda hope that I won't have to spend the whole time in Japan studying my ass off, and won't be able to actually see any of Japan itself.

I have news!

I finally handed in my full application. It took my senile lecturer about 3 months to do it, but he did it about one month before the deadline.
and he wrote me the nicest reference!

but this is not the big news!!

I got a call from Study Abroad yesterday, AND IT'S BETTER THAN I COULD HAVE HOPED!!

I didn't get into Waseda - they only have one opening for Monash, but dear Kate Parsons from Study Abroad went on about how my marks were 'very impressive', and that they don't think that my second preference, Meiji Gakuen, is 'suitible' for my high grades.

goddamn I feel like such a nerd, but DAMN I studied hard for this!!

so.. she wants to send me to Tokyo University...

...number 19 in the world...

The reason I didn't put it on my list of preferences is because they only accept third year students (and only select 25 students globally on top of that) And I'm going into my second year. But Kate seems to think that because I will technically be spending half of my third year in Japan, that she might be able to convince them to let me in...

If I don't get in (which I don't think I will) then I'm definitely down for Chiba Uni!!
and if i go to Chiba, then I'm in the running to get a Japanese government scholarship, which basically pays for my whole trip ^^

I forgot to update about my conversations with Ozaki over msn which I mentioned a couple of entries ago~

It wasn't half as bad as I was expecting. I managed to talk to him reasonably easily in Japanese, making me feel like a real pro x3
He's so sweet, and tries to translate his comments into English if I take too long to respond. I've spoken to him twice now, and hopefully we can meet up if I get chosen for exchange. Even if he is shorter than me (which he gets really uncomfortable about!)

...and on the topic of exchange, I emailed study abroad to make sure they received all my forms. And my Professor Ross Mouer STILL hasn't handed in my reference. He tried to send it to them via the university mailing snail-mail system, but as it's Christmas break at the moment, they haven't received it yet. However, Study Abroad have sent him ANOTHER email, asking him to either hand it in in person, or to email it.
And I'll email them again on Wednesday to make sure he's done that.

If I don't get on exchange because of my decrepit teacher...
I really don't know what else I can do. I might have to go into uni and hunt him down and force his hand to sign the damn form then hand it in myself. Though, I tried to do that two weeks ago, and he wasn't on campus.

so... my best friend is meeting up with my (ex)crush tomorrow for lunch. I say 'ex-crush' because it's been about a year since I last saw him, and despite me liking him, and him supposedly liking me, things between us never got anywhere.

And I've always hated it that bestfriend has a better friendship with him than I do. And I hate it more that I could have had a friendship with him like that if I hadn't had been so awkward around him. (does that sentence even make sense??)

And now I can't help but think of him as a stuck-up rich boy xD He goes on about how it was 'good of me' to go to Borneo and help out rural communities there. I wrote him this big comment saying how that was the most humiliating and un-productive part of the trip, because the tribal people did not need our help, and I hated feeling like us white folk were there to 'colonize' them or something. I did keep the comment polite though, so he might not be a dead-end just yet.

And now I'm writing to a Japanese guy...in Japanese. I've only been learning properly for a year, and it takes me a while to formulate a message of a couple of lines. Then he comments back using all this kanji, and I've got to go denshi jisho it up. He's insisting we speak on msn, no matter how often i tell him ’私の日本語が悪いですよ’.
No, I'm not being modest. There is no way I could keep up a conversation!! and he only knows a little english...

I never go on msn anymore because of all the weirdos who added me. And msn is a biatch on my mac. I really can't be bothered putting in the effort with it >_<

Japanese exam is on Wednesday. I think I know most of the stuff, but will go through some listening tests today *nods*

so, I finished the second book of the Twilight series today.

Although I enjoyed the first book more than I probably should have, it had basically no plot. Just a ton of soppy romance - not that I really minded.

But the second book had more happening in it. Though, I don't know if I can say i enjoyed this book. It did keep me turning the pages though, and i did finish it in a crazily short amount of time.

I could have finished it quicker if it hadn't been so viciously intent to make me relive some painful memories though. Although Meyer's writing isn't close to what i'd call 'good writing' (what ever that really is), she can capture a feeling well. The loss Bella felt throughout the book hit a bit too close to home. Stupid crushes. One would think that after almost a year since I last saw him, I wouldn't have such strong feelings towards him anymore! Or at least would be able to handle them better!

Fuck him and fuck this book. As much as I love them both.

My friend has told me vaguely what happens in the third book, and I don't know if I can handle it. The last thing I need is more bad memories to resurface when I'm feeling so vulnerable.
Though I don't know how long I can go without finding out what happens next!

Me and my mum have decided that our house is possessed. A 'voodoo house'.

After the 'freaky baka' moment the other night when I found the rat's skull under my floorboards, mum called yesterday to tell me that she thinks she's found the reason why we've been getting complaints about the dog barking while we're out.

She found a possum, hanging from our back tree.
I won't go into the gruesome details - because they are quite horrific - but we're unsure whether the possum got tangled in some rope, or was deliberately put there.
Honestly, mum wasn't even sure that it was a possum, it was so mangled.

My uncle is coming over to cut it down, and I guess to have a better look at it.

I shall update when things become a little clearer!~

Lemme calm down a little....

We recently got our floors done. We finally had the hideous carpet ripped up, and the beautiful floorboards polished in our house. Although this was finished a week ago, we still haven't got around to bringing all the furniture back into the rooms (also we don't have the man-power as yet to move pianos and couches), so I am sitting on a mattress in the corner of our otherwise empty living room just so i can be close enough to the telephone line and thus have internet access.
an odd situation, but comfy enough ^^

Near the heater some of the edging of the floorboards have been eaten away by bugs, and so there is a strip between the heater bricks and our newly polished floor where you can see the dirt underneath the house. Because we're worried of rats coming in through this part of the floor, we have stuffed the gap with newspapers. As Maddy was using my internet, I decided to entertain myself by poking around the dirt with the cat watching over my shoulder. There is about a 15 cm gap between the floor and the outside ground. Me and cat were perfectly content in digging around in this little patch. As I was digging, I could feel the breeze outside through the gap. There is a bit of tubing that I could poke at from my little hole, and I was wondering if there was anything in this bit of tubing (I have no idea how a piece of concrete tubing got under my house... given that the house was made decades ago. Hopefully it wasn't for something important...).
As I was poking, I found a tiny skull.

I kinda freaked, as i was working myself up for something to come jumping out of the piping. I thought it was a baby bird's skull, but when I looked again I noticed it had big front fang things - so it must be a mouse skull. (do mice have fangs? shit, maybe they don't... O_o'). Whatever animal it came from, it looked really eerie in the bluish light from my phone which I was using as a torch (tehe). I was working myself up more now, and got Maddy to come over and have a look at my finding. She came and stood behind me saying "I don't know if I really want to look at it..." and then...

...three droplets of what looked like blood pattered on the floorboards next to the hole I'd been digging at...

Next moment I'm hugging my knees in the middle of the room, shit scared xDD

Then we realize that it wasn't blood, it was actually Maddy spilling her hot chocolate as she knelt down to look through the gap. =_=;

All the same, I don't think I'll be poking around in that gap again any time soon. Especially not at 12.00 at night, when things seem freakier anyway xDD

Now the cat is chasing a moth. What is it with this house?!?!

I read it.

Many of my friends read it, and obsessively told me to read it. And after much deliberating, I finally picked it up and began reading. And had it finished the next day.

Such a badly written, adjective-ridden, soppy romance, BUT I CAN'T GET ENOUGH!!

I've borrowed the second book from my friend, but have banned myself from reading it because once I start, I won't be able to stop. And I still have two exams before holidays ~~Which I have not studied for in the least~~.

so, my big gay night out as a Fag Hag

The good thing about gay bars is you get to get REAL CLOSE with cute cute you're-my-ideal-man-with-PERFECT-hair kinda guys ^^.

Me and Scott first went to Purikura, and he won me a ton of those cute pink poo stuffed toy things (perhaps a little hard to explain if you don't know then already ==;). We then hit the photo booth, and decorated our time away until we got hungry for dinner. I took Scott to my favourite Vietnamese noodle place on Swanston street, but Scott didn't seem too impressed.

After we ate our grub, we tried to remember where this gay bar 'iq' was. We walked to Spencer street station (or whatever they call it nowdays), then up to flagstaff gardens, until we found a tram whose number seemed kinda familiar.

When we got there - despite our travels we were very early - we walked up and down Spring street a bit. Mainly to calm Scott's nerves. Poor dear. I should have taken this as a hint of what was to come...

We finally decided to go in, though the place was practically empty, so we sat near the door on some really squishy couches.

Some of his myspace friends arrived - gay guy equipped with a 'fag hag' of his own - and we went into the club dance floor. The floor was stickier than last time, if that was humanly possible. I had to grip so hard with my toes when I walked to make sure i didn't leave my slip-ons behind.

After one beer (which DEFINITELY wasn't enough) we went to dance. Or more, were forced to dance by Scott's more extroverted friends. I can't dance. Scott can't dance. Especially when the haze of drunken-ness is yet to hit you.

We went to sit, walked around a bit, sat some more. Chatted to some people. Stared at others. Then Scott's dear friend took us back to the dance floor for some dirty dancing xD
Heck yes for Jin "my hand on your hips as we grind" kinda dancing! ~~is it wrong i pretended it was Jinjin I was dancing with, not some sweet but ultimately gay guy?~~ Scott squealed so damn high when he was pulled into the sexy-thang we had going on. It turned out being Fiona sandwich. Like i said, pity they are all gay -_-' I think we broke apart when some guy called out "goddamn, that would be so hott if i was straight!". bahaha

But now Scott was feeling really under the weather. We went to get a drink, and a really gorgeous asian guy came up to the bar next to us, and asked (behind a to-die-for smile) if we had $2 to help pay for his beer. I ended up paying for the whole thing for him, and we got chatting. Then Scott ran off to throw up in the urinal, and cutie-asian offered us a place to crash in his apartment if we needed. We thought it was probably not such a good idea with Scott in such a state.

As we'd missed the last train (as was the original plan), we sat away from the noise for a while so Scott to regain his bearings. Poor dear. He was so pale, and was shivering really badly. After only one beer!! We brainstormed ways for him to calm his nerves, as he intermittently sipped his water, then ran off to spew it up again.
Some really drunk guy came and sat next to us, and was stroking my leg as he told me about Brisbane, is eyes rolled freakishly to the back of his head, until the guy he was with lead him home. We also got offered some hallucinate drug by this guy with really spiky hair. After he took a look at Scott, he decided he'd be better off pushing to someone more hard-core x3

We went to MacDonald's when Scott was ok to walk, and sat there with his friends before they left for home at 3.30am. I pecked at some fries and what i was told was orange juice as we waited for the first train. Behind us was sitting a guy who looked like some Vis Kei rocker on a quiet night on the town. His hair was huge, and wore guy-liner. Scott and I spoke in Japanese about him, questioning whether he was, in fact, a guy, then realized that he might be Japanese, and stopped speaking pretty quick. As 4.30 drew closer we left, scary jrocker guy's gaze following us out >_<

We walked all the way to Flinders, and were the only people on the street. Besides some slow-driving taxis and milk trucks. Our first trains were at about 5.30, so we waited at the station; helping some pretty chinese tourist find a train that went to Spencer street Station [Southern Cross Station (crustaion?)... I remember the name now...].
Scott took his train, and I took mine. I read some of my book and watched the group of boys who looked about my age bumming around on the train. All very harmless.

The sun was just coming up as i got to my station. I bought a bread roll from the just opened bakery and ate it on a bench at the church. When I got home dad was just waking up for his early morning walk (6.00!! who wakes up that early!). I changed my shoes and went with him. We must have looked weird, me in my casual party-gear and him with bed-head and a track suit. People are so friendly in the morning, if a little weird. The sunrise was beautiful, and we could see hot air balloons over the city.

I still had one hour of down-time download on my internet, so watched more Yuukan Club, then slept until 11.00 (3 hours all up), and soon after that Maddy walked in the door due to an evacuation of her school. A salute for those rowdy muck up day year 12s.

As enjoyable as my night was, I really need to go to some more straight bars. There is really no hope for me in finding a boyfriend if I spend all my time watching dorama and going to gay bars ;;
I will also need to catch up on some sleep. 3 hours of shut-eye in 30 hours can't be enough. I guess the tiredness will hit me soon~

whywhywhy are all my guy friends (save, perhaps, two) all gay???
and why did i agree to go AGAIN??
Especially given that it's only me and Scott going... so he can 'network'. What am i meant to do??
and besides... the floor there is really sticky xD

how am i meant to meet a guy at a gay bar?!?!?! (xD)

I decided what to wear this morning, but think i might just stick to wearing some jeans and a top. Really can't be bothered with a ride-up skirt today. There is always someone there who is less dressed up than me, lol.

andand, the last train leaves so early!! 12.15!!! I don't want to have to taxi... we thought we could stay at Maccas until the first train at 5.15... but yuck. Alcohol then the smell of MacDonalds???
and i have no money -_-;
I know of a trendy little dark and dingy bar near the gay club. Lots of old couches, and women bartenders with tattoos. Maybe we can crash there ^^
